Describing SrutiAI in your ethics application
Many ethics boards ask how recordings will be transcribed and where the data goes. This page gives you accurate wording to adapt. It describes SrutiAI as of [confirm: date]; check it against the Privacy Policy, and your institution’s own requirements, before you submit.
Suggested wording
Interviews will be transcribed and translated using SrutiAI, a desktop application that processes audio on the researcher’s own computer. Recordings, transcripts, translations and analysis are stored on that computer and are not uploaded to the software provider or any other service. The application connects to the internet to verify the software licence (sending only account and licence information and the length of each recording in minutes) and to download its models once. Optional features that search scholarly catalogues send only search terms the researcher reviews first, never interview content.
This is a description of the software, not legal advice. Optional features are listed in full on the Privacy page.
